Of Tipping points and Shape Shifting
Greetings,
As I looked over my previous posts, I sensed some of the people who’ve actually dug around through the lot asking themselves, is there a point to all this?
Yes.
But the point is not so much to paint a picture than to create a multi-contextual collage. If I have a role and goal it is to be your weaver of context . I’ve had the opportunity, through circumstance and choice, to be widely exposed to every kind of physical and metaphysical life/situation/theology/teacher.
I’ve also had the opportunity to travel far and wide and as is my wont, always sought the wisdom of the place and it’s people. I’ve also had the opportunity to be a military man (for 12 years), look at the inner workings at high levels of government and participate in the great fraud that was the .com revolution. I saw the housing bubble (the next great fraud) close up and personal and while in Northern California, the opportunity to interact with true anarchists. Ruthless seekers, no armchair activists, people who lived as they spoke and thought.
Back here in India, I’m getting the opportunity to watch, up close and personal again, Capitalism’s EPIC failure. So, for one reason or another, life has given me a big picture view of things. And put along the path, people who guided me into uncomfortable but always rewarding places. And then, one day, I was handed a key, asked to open THE door and walk in…… more on this in a bit…..
These are shifty times, yes? You cannot count on anything. People, institutions, systems, science, religion, everywhere we are beginning to see the root is rotten. Institutionally, this is the time of the great let-down. Church abuse, godman abuse, temple abuse, financial scandals, political scandals, wars for profit, wars for wars sake, corporate malfeasance, the splintering of family………. everything is in motion…. like change is underfoot…..
Shift shape and you get phase. Change phase and you get shape.
Annagrammatic play, but language gives strange clues if you look between the lines.
We are currently in the throes of the greatest phase change that humanity has been subject to (and co-created) in known history. And through out history, this is how it has always been.
In keeping with the cyclical theory of everything, the pendulum swings from one extreme to the other, the snake comes back to bite it’s own tail… you get the picture.
And endings are always climactic. Anti-climactic, pro-climactic, it matters not. Climactic they are. That is what the word implies, a climax.
Another interesting phrase for climax is end-game. We are in the end game stage of the age of Pisces , heading into the age of Aquarius. That much is astronomically accepted. Astronomy and it’s sibling (parent?) Astrology are undeniable influences on out thought process. And the heavens and it’s inhabitants on us. Think about it.
If a person standing next to you, or a hundred feet away can startle you with a shout (energy projection), or kill you with an arrow (force/energy projection)…. imagine, inspite of the distances involved, how much those giant bodies, billions of times more powerful than anything we can hope to make/generate impact us all the time.
Actually look no farther than the moon, the mover of the great waters (tides), inner waters (menses for women) and subtle waters (mind, Luna-tic, full moons are madness moons for good reason).
So, this shift of the ages, indicated at the galactic scale by a change from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius.
It is also the end of the Industrial world as we know it. It has brought us naught but a thin veneer of achievement. Our lives, our everyday lives are much the worse for it (please read my piece http://aadivaahan.wordpress.com/2010/06/10/in-dust-realization/ and http://aadivaahan.wordpress.com/2010/06/09/an-older-piece-pertinent/ for my thoughts on what it has done to/for us).
And it is only fitting that in the climax of the industrial age and in the climax of the age of Pisces, we have the very industry that led us here, OIL and the place of it’s greatest failure the Water (Deepwater Horizon Spill). Water of course is Fish=Pisces.
Sad (or not really, since it is a cycle after all), but weirdly fitting in a way, yes?
Climaxes and end-game times are also times of heightened emotions, willingness to break rules, chaos and stark choices.
Think about it as a fork coming up on the road ahead. Till now, or especially for our parents and grandparents generations, losing their way collectively as they were (or we would not be here, they were the guides), the moment of choice was comfortably far enough away for them to leave it be, it was going to be our choice to make.
Our generation, meaning all of us alive/cogent individuals of supposedly free will, are going to be confronted by that choice. And like any phase/shape change time, the choice becomes black and white. Which fork, left or right? (Or up or down, matters not, there will be a moment of choice and one well nigh impossible to go back on).
Such is the nature of these heightened times. And if you doubt it is really right about now, I say you look closely at the fabric of every aspect of society, the womb we live in. Every thing that gave us that false sense of comfort is at the point of being torn. Coming apart at the seams.
Society is crumbling (Family, that bedrock, the cornerstone of modern society, especially the nuclear family, is in a runaway fission reaction, falling apart, explosively), nations are crumbling (Zimbabwe, Iceland, Greece, soon Spain, the UK and of course the great and maligned leader, the US of A. All coming apart. India, my country, is a strange, ugly shadow of it’s former self, Japan, China, Russia, the EU…. matters not, all under great stress).
Ethnic stress, religious stress, Jihad, revolution. Wars, here there and everywhere.
Money, that object of desire, that which makes the world go round, and it’s associated Financial and Economic worlds, fraught with greed, delusion, subversion, lies and bloating, everyday. Like a dead corpse bloats from all the gases in it expanding. The carcass of money is bloating like that. And driving people insane. Some mad because they have too much, others because they have too little and the ones in the middle, all reaching up, scrambling. As if reaching the everestian peak of the monetary pyramid will save them.
Also in such times, we find the un-earthing of great secrets. You can become a tantrik, an alchemist, a freemason a magician, a ritualist….. all you need is a credit card and a DVD player. Books by the thousands, all promising you old, arcane secrets to make you rich, powerful, safe.
But of course what is un-earthed is just the profane, the obvious, the gross and that is why it never saves us or humanity. Like the food of the day, it looks good, smells good but does you no good at all. Same with all this great knowledge. Same with teachers. Guru, master, Swami, Sage, Kaballist, Taoist, Sensei… all peddling their wares of consciousness, enlightenment, but most of all of personal power.
Species are dying. Every day, the last of something disappears. For all it’s Frankensteinian hope pushing, the manipulation of DNA is akin, in my fractal world view, to what is happening in the Gulf of Mexico. We are too deep (technologically) in a place where we are neither in full control of effects and blind to the dangers.
Einstein said, I think, that when the bees die away, humans are next. Well, bees are dying too, by the millions. Toxic farms? Toxic Cell tower radiation? No one knows for sure. But species, with greater foreknowledge than us, or just the disappearance of the eco-system that keeps them alive, are disappearing. Every day.
We’ve bottom fished the oceans and poisoned the top-soil. Ruined the water-table in between. Interrupted the hydrological cycle, never, in the first place understanding water anyways.
All the abundance we took for granted is now fast disappearing and all the technology in the world cannot bring it back.
Language is dying. Brought to it’s knees by a weakened mind, a result of the overdependency on technology to do our work for us (see http://aadivaahan.wordpress.com/2010/06/13/machine-strong-human-weak/ ). With the death or the slow passing away of language, culture, which is largely built around language, disappears too. Actually culture and language are in a close-dance to the bottom, each leading the other.
We are losing our compass as I pointed out in The death of Shame, Death of Nobility (http://aadivaahan.wordpress.com/2010/06/17/death-of-shame-death-of-nobility/ ). We are now, as a composite, neither men nor women fully. Sexually confused and conflicted fence-sitters.
And the death of culture marks the death of this era. Mother culture’s voice will finally be silenced because there will be no language left to speak in.
And then, we go back to the large cycles. The Sun, the rea-sun for the sea-sun, is readying for a flare-up, something we have never survived too well anyways, but in this electronically dependent age, will do much worse. And it’s wake up time is right about now. Think alarm going off and you reaching lazily to hit the Off switch. We are there. NASA is saying it, warning about it. The earth is already shaking, volcanoes coming alive… a time of great energy release…
2012 with all it’s myriad explanations, but the most obvious is our passage from one side of our galactic disc to the other. Awesome, once in millenia alignments of stars, planets and galactic centers.
Surely something is up, yes?
And all such climaxes are akin to passing through the eye of a needle. Jesus (the Fish, the Avaatar for the age said something akin to this). No baggage will pass through. It may be a symbolic eye, but the effect is, if anything, even more severe. No wiggle room, leave all the past, all the rigidity, behind.
New age, new time, new rules, new everything. And phase changes are not gradual events. They are binary. Water till 100 degrees then BAM, steam. Water till 0 degrees C, then all of a sudden, ICE.
To wake up to this reality is a binary event too. Enough in-formation and then one day you understand for certain the nature and in-evitability of it. To deny it is to deny everything. Literally.
And in the face of such momentous change, there is only one thing we can take through the eye of the needle.
Our equanimity and it’s bedrock, our sense of balance. No one out of balance will make it through. Imagine the detachment needed to watch an age, an era crumble before your very eyes. And to be able to see it for what it is. And be calm.
But what an amazing thing if we could be that way, yes?
And my role in this, with you, is quite simple. I was given, under the most unique circumstances, the key, a common key for all of us, to help in finding that balance. I was made (amongst many others too I’m sure) a custodian of “obvious” and “crucial” knowledge. And it was so simple that I just had to try it in the door.
And you know what? It worked. No effort.
It is what lies beyond that door that takes the single-mindedness of purpose, in walking the way that the key opened up to me. I shared/gave that key to all who came by (and in real life too, I’m always giving it out, to anyone who will listen). It is the First Exercise ( http://aadivaahan.wordpress.com/2010/06/15/the-first-exercise/ ).
But people are loathe to accept anything freely or easily. And this too is a sign of our times and fine with me.
But for the few who take that key and turn it in themselves, an amazing journey of self-discovery will unfold. And you have to walk that path (it is a spiral path and you can read about it on my other site http://squareandc.net , scroll down far enough, you will find it), alone.
And that is the reason I began writing, to find those few people, scattered across the world, who would take that key and use it.
The cycle of the ages will turn without heed. It is self-impelled. Your or my passing through the eye is of no consequence. Neither is your or my or our species survival of any importance to the earth or the larger play of the planet, the solar system or the universe.
If you choose to do it, you will do it for your self. To find your equanimity, your true balance.
To face the eye of the needle with equanimity.
To know thy self.
Hey,
Really enjoying your blog. There’s a lot here, so it may take me a while, but I, for one, am pleased to have found it.
Greetings nuinut,
Glad to hear that. Please poke around and comment as you feel called. And good luck with your own blog, which I see you just launched.
Sadly, I think this current GOM oil disaster is only a prelude to our problems with oil. I fully expect to see the oil fields of Iraq in flames as the Iraqis try to push the invaders out of their country.
On many dimensions Tony, our problems with oil as the prime mover of our lives have come front and center. And GOM is the face of that now broken relationship and it is growing by the minute.
That is why I believe that the tipping point everyone thought was always “not now”, is NOW. We are in it. And it wrought with tremendous opportunity for change. For better?
Let us watch eh? And work on our “selves”.
Seriously- this one the best blogs I’ve found. An excellent complement to ZH, but I love how you’re incorporating philosophical/spiritual concepts – wisdom really, into the discussion. The situation(s) on the planet require this, imho. Your articles project a calm fearlessness, a necessity for survival, as you’ve pointed out.
I’ll be returning as long as you keep writing.
Yes that solar flare will come but I feel only when the majority of the planet realizes what has been done here. You are so right, we are so insignificant. I see things speeding along for awhile and then it will mercifully end. I still see far too many people around me who don’t realize there is a problem I suppose is the best way to put it.
There are people in America who believe democracy can be restored and everything made right. They debate from a liberal vs conservative mindset, although their numbers seem to be dwindling from what I can see. Vivek nobody can “fix it” it cannot be fixed. We are all going to have to watch more enormous suffering.
When the Madrid goes so goes the American economy along with the Japanese economy which is already gone for all practical purposes. This is a colossal jolt to the world economy as far as distributing necessities and items for survival in this so called modern world.
Right now I find myself cataloging the disasters, sure there is much more to come. In fact they happen almost daily now. Things I had never thought of like sand storms from the Gobi desert going all over. The sand storms in Australia almost hit one of the uranium mining areas. It would have taken uranium dust and sent it everywhere. The Australian government came out with the same, nothing to be concerned about. That seems to be the call word these days nothing to worry about and nothing to be concerned about whatever happens with the idea of not causing panic.
I think soon there won’t be any blogs for anyone to communicate. We won’t even have an idea what is going on in the rest of the world.
Indeed Dub, strange days are upon us for sure. And the shift will be binary, not gradual. Complex adaptive systems could have landed gracefully, but we have a complex mal-adapted system. It will play itself out and it’s not going to be the same for too much longer.
Such a rich sense of urgency in the air, eh?
Thanks as always for your linking and sharing.
Dub, I see you are getting righteously apocalyptic on us now, hmmmmm? Yup, I agree there is no fixing. I think the key focus for me, personally is diving ever deeper, inside. Deeper and deeper. Any change we might trigger outside is purely by being example setters, not manipulators of anything.
And Madrid, New Madrid, Flooding Mississippi…. it’s all getting quite literal eh?
Thanks as always for sharing.
