The Dance of Man and Machine…
September 28, 2011
Greetings,
Sometimes, for the deeply practiced or disciplined or supremely talented or all of the above…. their innstrument of expression becomes one with them…
Here is one such case…
And I would highly Recommend his second ride too:
Chris Pfeiffer’s Second Round Ride……
Stunning…

Zen and the art of motorcycle riding, no? Wow. Amazing.
I’m wondering if anyone else is having the problem I am of when the new posts are e-mailed to me, the screen comes up blank. I am only able to get into them by going back to some I saved from the past (well … silly. I certainly didn’t save them from the future) and following the headings on the right forward into the new post. Hmmmm. Does that mean anything I wonder?
Watching Chris Pfeiffer evokes ahhhhs and oooouuus no ?
Well it does for me……being an old “Flat Tracker” from the 60s.
I appreciate !
These days…….I have an ATV..(all terrain vehicle)…you know one of those
little 4 wheel jobbies that are capable of the most incredible things.
And it is NOT A TOY !….at least not so for us.
Most of the time we keep a small trailer hitched up to it.
It performs remarkably well as a Mini-Tractor in rough terrain.
The gas mileage is excellent, and the work done is stupendous.
In short it’s the family Mule !…..without the inconvenience of said mule.
They say that one barrel of oil equates to roughly one year of work for a Mule !
And work for a human ? Try 23,000 Labor Hours…. 7 to 12 Years !
Hard to believe eh ?…….but those are the numbers.
Machines eh ?
Yes, with them we have accelerated the destruction of habitat.
But is that their fault ?
Get enough people on earth without any machines at all,
and we would see destruction plenty anyway.
Numbers…numbers !
In commenting on Ray Kurzweil’s new book “The Singularity is Near”, Bill Gates said: “…a future in which information technologies have advanced so far and fast that they enable humanity to transcend its biological limitations…”
Now I don’t know about you, I got really work up by the prediction that future AI will ‘change’ us [it is looking more and more that we are heading that way] into efficient cyber-machines when we ‘were supposed created in HIS image’ by a perfect creator. Why do we need to transcend our biological limitations? Unless we were NOT created by HIM?
I can ‘dig’ Chris Pfeiffer’s physically merged with a machine (and yet retaining near-perfect control over it) and can see that we aren’t quite build like a machine…but change into one? No! God forbid.
Thanks for sharing.
Vee, have you gone into the whole trans/post-Humanist argument at all. Once I understood the purpose of the trans-humanists, it became quite clear how the newer generations are all growing more and more embedded with machines, younger and younger.
Baby monitoring cameras, talk about big brother training eh?
Damn social engineering is really non-stop, once you see past the curtain.
Hmmmm?
Watch this video, blew my mind.
Did you guys see the article in Discovery News on Sept. 28th about the cyborg rat getting a computerized cerebellum.
Oh. Here’s another on Discovery dot com/tech/sex-robot. Jeez.
