First Exercise: Second Part
Hope you are keeping your ear to the ground as the world turns in stranger and more mysterious ways everyday. Developing in-sight is of crucial importance at this time.
If you can, imagine a world where everything you held as trust-worthy, sacrosanct and/or of a core support nature to your life, fell away suddenly, as if in a sink-hole.
What would you bank on? Who would you call? Could you call at all? Food, water, money…… everything is so outward dependent, yes?
Well worth pondering. And given that we live in the age of Maya, the illusory blinders of our times, firmly on our eyes, in-sight becomes becomes critical. We have to start learning to live by our instincts. Each day counts. An instinct needs honing to be true.
The first Exercise (here) is the first step and a really powerful one, into the honing process and as it turns out, from the responses I’ve received, a really difficult one.
Interesting, yes? Put the tips of your fingers together, seated comfortably, and feel them all, simultaneously. Sounds easy enough, but isn’t, as I discovered and so have others who have tried it.
To recap, the first exercise on the Spiral path in, is to sit in a quiet place, in loose clothing, preferably on a comfortable cushion. If unable, a low chair or just a regular chair.
Place your palms facing each other, just a little in-front of your navel area (six-9 inches away). Elbows relaxed but not resting on anything.
Let only your finger-tips touch each other. Send all your awareness to the place where the Five meeting points are and try, through subtly reading and manipulating pressure and position of your fingers, to make sure each contact “pad” is of the same size.
Now feel first one pad, then two together, then three, till you completely and simultaneously can feel all five pads.
As it turns out, done correctly, the Five Point Hold takes a lot of concentration. And it is just the start.
The challenge is stay with it. Thoughts come and go. Bring all your attention back to the pads. Body shifts, contact shifts. Compensate, straighten up and try again.
What happens is that the longer you stay with the practice, the more tactile you become, you begin to feel the ridges of your fingerprints, subtle things like that. And you find that you can actually hold your attention of all five simultaneously.
It will not happen in a day or a week. When you feel it, you will know.
Please continue to share experiences in comments.
So, onto the second part. After this, I’ll wait to hear some really deep breakthrough stories before the next step.
Once you can simultaneously hold the awareness of all five “equal” pads seamlessly and for a long time, things will begin to happen. So we need to ratchet it up a level. That is where the experiences of step one can be assimilated. On a higher plane.
Now focus, using all the subtle manipulation and “feel” you developed in the first stage, to make sure that the pressure between the fingers at all five points of contact is simultaneously identical.
Simple enough, yes? Pushing and parting in the subtlest of ways, ensure though feel and awareness that the pressure in all the “pads” is identical. And as far as possible, neutral. Neither pushing left, nor right.
Write in if you feel called.
This effort can change your life.
