Meet the press.

September 21, 2010

I hope enough people read the linked article in yesterday’s fervent post. Outrage, I thought, was beyond me. Anger yes, but passing. Outrage, I thought I was too cynical, had read it all, etc. Clearly not.

For today, meet the press: Source is Namaste Magazine.

This is from 1880, One Hundred and Thirty years ago!

Read that? 180 years ago…

John Swinton on the Free Press

One night, probably in 1880, John Swinton, then the preeminent New York journalist, was the guest of honour at a banquet given him by the leaders of his craft. Someone who knew neither the press nor Swinton offered a toast to the independent press. Swinton outraged his colleagues by replying:

“There is no such thing, at this date of the world’s history, in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it.

There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with.

Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone.

The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press?

We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.”

There is no question PRAVDA is alive and well . Few understand or realize how powerful this is , but it is very very real ! Nothing has changed and in fact it has gotten far worse in modern mass communications times. Google is nothing but a Gov/CIA information gathering dissemination organization to be used as big brother agendas propaganda machine . wake up folks . welcome to 1984 ala Wells……………….

Crazy eh Stephen? That was then and I’m sure it’s been disputed (the account). But the Main stream press as living exemplars of whoredom of the worst kind…. quite un-kind actually. Especially TeeVee!

Everyone has insights, but i love the way this guy bakes his note, then cooks it well, puts the icing on the cake decorates it and then slams it on the face of the world , haw haw haw such pleasure to read raw truth minus the dressing, people call “being diplomatic” haw haw

As you point out Sanjay, I think the language of diplomacy (lying) at every fractal level of our lives has permeated us deeply.

What shocked me about this was it’s relative antiquity!!!

      Thanks for sharing.

Vivek got this off your ZH post

ties in with above stuff perfectly from previous time frame of this thread . Seems to me they were both correct to some degree and in fact we are in a downward spiral from all the worse case scenarios they proposed . Ayn Rand as well……………when all is said and done it seems to be just natural order of humans playing out to the end game, which ultimately remains to be seen. All we can do is plan for worse and hope for best and live accordingly and enjoy whatever we have before us in truth . Sounds simple but getting much more complex to do, because of our overlords and their arrogance and incredible greed . It seems they will stop at nothing to maintain status quo . Perhaps their arrogance will be their undoing and they don’t actually have an unstoppable plan ? History seems to say so, although survivors of previous events have always gone on to repeat some sort of similar recurrence given enough time ? So is the 26 K cyle thus ? Maybe , I don’t really know . Dust in the wind ?

In my mind, the game as we know it is definitely at end Stephen.

And I believe that to be the case because Time, as we know/feel it, is going to get subsumed as a new dimension gets added to our existence.

A far far higher vibration. To thrive in it, we have to make choices NOW. Everyone….NOW.

Or we will continue to de-cline, get sucked down. So many ways to change, quit alcohol, quit meat, clean water, simpler living….
And your earlier question about death and suicide.

When enough inner polishing happens, such questions become moot. That needs to be the quest. To raise our vibrational level of existence. Then death comes, not quietly in the night, but like a friend, arm in arm.
