The Callousness of pornography…

January 18, 2011

Today I want to touch on a topic that in most “cultured” circles induces shame/embarrassment/guilt/secrecy. Of course, at this time, cultured (acculturated) circles include 90% of humanity.

What is this graphy, amongst so many, geography/photography/lithography, that has such a powerful, negative impact on one’s emotional state and yet is the most consumed thing when available? Why is it so loosely legislated when it’s pernicious and permanent effects are well understood by all. Both intellectually and viscerally? What is it’s role in our current reality? What happened?

This is obviously a huge topic, so I’ll take random walks into my views on it and would really appreciate reader comments. A dialouge.

As I’ve said multiple times, we are, in my view, on a devolutionary spiral, ever tightening into the grip of the Age of Iron, the Age of Maya, The yuga of Kali, dark mother. We are on a path to a singularity, the eye of the needle, through complete darkness and dissociation with all that we firmly (too firmly) held on to as the anchors of this cultural egregore we call the present.

Please see my earlier writing for context:

Sex, sometime in the past, was sacred. It was something that was driven by a primeval urge to procreate. It’s sacredness was innate, for it replicated the act of creation. As it has slithered down the devolutionary spiral with us, look where we are today.

Religion, such a big role in the suppression of sex.  It was as if the ecstasy of sex and it’s divine reflection was a direct competitor to the priesthood’s control. They took the most natural and sacred of acts and pushed it deep into “shame” territory, for all the wrong reasons. Not organic shame, but rule induced and culture induced and societally induced shame.

Over the centuries, the suppression got worse and so did the means of escape from it. The disconnection of fantasy is born out of this conflict. Removal from a present reality to a better, imagined one.

Masturbation was repressed and so it bloomed. Everything that is pushed into dark corners tends to metastasize, un-recognizable when light is shone on it again.

And with this religion induced and inspired and in-doctrinated, puritanical patriarchal reality growing in strength over the centuries, the distortion induced around sex has increased proportionately.

Fast forward to day.

it’s everywhere. Magazines, bill-boards, books, movies, games, video this and that, TV……sex, but a callous form if it.

The high form of pornography is Erotica. The Kamasutra, The Yellow emperor series, The Tantras….

To be understood, practiced, raised, evolved… through sex.

Now, Gonzo porn, sick, sicker, twisted, bestial, voyeuristic, brutal, extreme, pain, visual, homosexual, mind distorting, false, fake……

And everywhere, All the time. Cheap. Virtual, but we are now attuned to virtual=real. Our brains do not know different anymore.

The pleasure response. Like the monkey with the electrode into the pleasure center of his brain. Once he got it, he just kept hitting the button, starving himself in the process.

Pornography, easily available to all (one of the key reasons to push cell phones is so that the porn industry can reach hitherto unreachable masses), warps the social fabric through warping the male/masculine/yang element.

Pornography has stripped this time of innocence. Younger and younger people have access and older and older ones too. The last bastions of innocence are being squeezed of it with a vengeance.

Thus pornography is callous. You get callous when you repeat something too often. Like a lumberjack’s hands.

It’s just like that with pornography. Too much exposure to something that was a deep, but not hidden, interaction. Show anything too much light and it will fade. Callous. Dulls the receptors.

Now you want more. Extreme. Hardcore.

And the reality feeds itself as people play the roles they see. And get more and more callous.

Pornography is a disease that powerfully distorts the social fabric.

It’s time we all stepped away from it.

This is the first step in the butlerian jihad.

Be well.

Perhaps the hardest and most subtle thing to see about the danger of pornography is the anonymity of its various forms . Sex goes to the essence of creation, so thoughts of porn about sex (of having anonymity about sex) is hugely damaging to the soul.

Regarding the anonymity of trade porn on the internet, Who is the photographer? we don’t know — Who is the girl, or the actors? we don’t know — Where are their fathers, or their brothers, or their boyfriends or husbands? we don’t know. So what’s going on? With all these unprotected young women, healthy and smiling for the camera and spreading their legs out of fear of their impending loneliness, porn steers us into thoughts of anonymous connection, thoughs of sex without attachment to even so little our own good names, as fathers, as brothers, as boyfriends and husbands.

This anonymity, this disconnection, is the true essence of all pornography … and it can take political, sexual, financial, social forms. By the magic of anonymity, porn dissocistes us from our good name, and from our Creator.

Most of the internet is a form of pornography. It’s a very seductive domain. But then there is that ever-present anonymity … which inch by inch steals our good name.

nice points. i never knew porn was so prevalent, until i started reading ZH. but it was only introduced by a few posters in jest. i think ZH is very professional in this regard. i really respect the community not expresssing themselves like everyone else is doing in this country. nope, didn’t know the self pleasure business even existed until about a year ago. i think when the networks allowed those utterly offending ads for viagra etc. america just hit HELL. it is gross to look at hard porn. now i enjoy a seductive female body, but would never want to see a naked man in print. just my 2¢’s. be good†

Thanks Kathy! Yes, TV had a big role in altering our vision of the new normal. ultimate Fighting, desperate housewives, sex in the city….. callous makers, all.
      And by good-ness, I try! 🙂

I remember reading Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment. One chapter towards the end one of the characters in a dream sees a small girl sitting on a bed, she is cold, wet and shivering. The dreamer goes to give the girl a blanket to help her and the little girl turns to him and starts to stare at him. The dreamer slowly starts to realize that the little girl is not as innocent and needy as he thought, as she starts to gesture at him with her tongue licking her lips and her eyes enticing him to come over and hug her. She starts to moan in anticipation of his embrace, it is a sexual moan. The dreamer wakes up in a cold sweat, frightened of his nightmare where lust hides under innocence and sets traps for those looking for consolation from their loneliness. After he wakes up he decides to put a bullet in his brain. Once one invites pornography in one’s thoughts, the invitation can lead to total domination of other relationships. I know I’m preaching to the choir on this, but I can attest to this dream. I do work away from my home of my wife and a few kids for long periods of time, as a teacher of young kids. So, the temptation is to use porn to soothe the natural feelings of loneliness and to somehow stay loyal to all my relationships, the most important of those would be that to my wife, but I have found that to be an utterly dishonest attempt as, when one indulges, it starts to wreck the peace of mind one needs to do one’s job. One has flash backs to the invitations of allowing images to dominate ones desires. So, children start to represent other things, things that can only excite one in the most narrow sense. One rightly starts to feel guilty and concentration becomes more difficult and if one persists in the dishonest and lazy way of seeking consolation, the obvious and inevitable result would be a total breakdown of one’s ability to serve and could lead to one becoming the ultimate destroyer of innocence. Needless to say, I don’t go anywhere near ‘porn’ as I have found out I have that alcoholic personality. I was a virgin when I got married and remain loyal to my family, but the sad thing is it is only a technicality i can’t be proud of, because the bible has it right, if one looks lustfully at another, it is the same as if one had actually committed the physical act. You let something into your heart, it is tough to remove it, it becomes a part of you and its presence needs room and it is ever expanding, choking off whatever else you have in your heart. I do believe avoiding porn has helped me have better concentration and motivation and thus have become more effective in teaching and doing my job. But there is the needed fear that the room I have evicted my porn demons from could possibly be filled again with even more later, and with that fear, I try to use more resolve and vigilance to stay clean….

Thanks for sharing that deep and personal insight Michael. Fighting to keep something out is usually a losing battle. Letting it flow through you can be effortless.
How do you become permeable? Not from shame or fear or failing or falling, just permeable? Like glass is to light.

Hi. I really enjoy your postings.

You wrote “It was as if the ecstasy of sex and it’s divine reflection was a direct competitor to the priesthood’s control.” I don’t think it was “as if”- I think it WAS, and IS.

The cheapening and dirtying of sex I think was devised to rob it of its divineness in our lives, and to lower our collective vibrational level. We must be kept separate from our true nature, or the jig will be up for the money changers and the manipulators.

Wow. Not your best post, by far. Some first-pass responses:

    1. You (and your commenters) treat porn as if it were fungible, but it’s not. So much of your generalizing is not about porn itself but certain forms of porn.

    2. The idea that “pernicious and permanent effects” of porn are “well understood by all” is quite an assertion! In fact, porn remains a controversial subject, and I have heard some excellent defenses of porn over the years.

    3. Sex can be held as sacred, but it’s not all about procreation. Casual and recreational sex are common throughout the animal kingdom and the rest of life on down to bacteria. To quote a friend, “Nature is slutty, and squirts genetic material around in all kinds of non-procreative ways.”

    4. You put “homosexual” in the same list as “gonzo”, “sick”, “twisted”, and “brutal”. What the hell is wrong with you?

    5. Is pornography “a disease that powerfully distorts the social fabric”? Perhaps pornography is, to paraphrase Greta Christina, merely the way we share our fantasies with each other. And perhaps some of us are sick in ways, and that sickness shows up in that process. But it doesn’t make the process, the form, itself sick. Let’s not conflate the two if they are indeed separate.

    • January 19, 2011 5:26 am

Josh, I’ll pass on a line by line rebuttal. our POV’s are obviously too far apart.
You probably like Pornography, which is all well and good for you.
Will say one thing, for pernicious and permanent effects, I suggest a one month visit to Japan, the most pornography drenched society on the planet.
Study the dynamics carefully. it is a disease from which it is impossible to recover. Also ponder the difference between Erotica and Pornography.
You took offense to homosexual? shouldn’t jump to conclusions. Read all the four linked pieces first. If you did not, you have no deep idea of where the thesis of the post nor the use of the word homosexual comes.
Ask yourself why more and more men need viagra or it’s equivalent to perform what should be a most natural thing. Stress? Nope. Callousness.

I of course stand firmly behind what I’ve said.

“Ask yourself why more and more men need viagra or it’s equivalent to perform what should be a most natural thing. Stress? Nope. Callousness. ”

I think you need to reevaluate your thought processes because your conclusions aren’t reached through critical thinking. Perhaps it is due to people continuing to be sexual active for many more years than previous generations. Also, the fact that an issue was not addressed by society as a whole does not mean it was not an issue previously, it could either be a taboo subject or one which was avoided due to limited knowledge and treatment of the issue.

I mean it could be one of these logical and easily explained circumstances, or it could be the ominous representation of the degradation of culture and sexual health. I choose to consult Occam in this scenario.

        • January 19, 2011 12:07 pm

Jadr, critical thinking got us in the mess we are in today. That and linear thinking. And logic really.
I’ve chosen to eschew all of the above and concentrated on honing my instincts and being a constant, involved observer of the world.
I’m afraid Occam may have lopped off the wrong lobe as far as this issue is concerned.
Incidentally, there is a war on. For your attention. Easiest way in is through the pleasure principle. Think advertising, it’s ubiquitousness, it’s use of sex and my thesis.
Likewise the sexualization of children. MILFs, Cougars…. you get the drift. Or maybe not.
          All good.

      Excellent reply Josh A.

I am a bdsm professional, I work very intimately with people facilitating scenarios that allow them to process in a variety of ways. Under the right circumstances and with the right motives involved, this process is absolutely a catalyst for personal growth and even healing. Over the last decade during which I have worked in this capacity, I have had quite the education in regard to what thousands of everyday people feel, think and desire in this context (sexuality).

Shaming each other has become a way of life.

Well meaning parents program shame into their children when masturbation is discovered to be taking place, and there are many other sources for shame programs. Shame is a great method of manipulating someone isn’t it?

      Shame is destructive to everyone.

As individuals we are oppressed and repressed sexually, we are ashamed, and yet sexualized imagery is bombarding us from every direction! How confusing is that?!

Broad stroking things will never help the situation.

It is time for rational reasonable discussions about human sexuality! Without the stigmatization, without the shaming, without the judgments. Can we not peer into the depth of this matter without all that? Is it even possible?

I guess I figure that if I can do it, so can others; but then, I am not ashamed of myself and see no reason to be ashamed. It becomes an issue of healthy boundaries and appropriateness. Guidelines. In my construct this is what separates the healthy from the unhealthy. Keep it within the boundaries of ‘only what is consensual and beneficial’. It is pretty simple.

People must have their process in order to develop. If the process is hindered by shame, distortions can and will manifest. No one has the right to oppress another person.

      Personal sovereignty includes sexuality.

      • March 17, 2012 7:03 pm

Elle, you practice Erotic Healing, totally different from the concept of pornography I’m speaking about. Also, younger and younger people exposed and older and older people exposed to Gonzo or Rape or voyeur porn (very common and free on the net) = Death of innocence. That is bad. in my mind, axiomatically so.

You make good points, but different context.
Thanks for sharing deeply and honestly.

In regards to Porn, just say no.

Sex is for procreation. We need more people and to get them we need spiritually healthy people. Oh, and did I mention procreation (in all of its stages ‘making’ & nurturing) is fun…funner than porn anyway. By the way, maybe you can tell…but those sexually frustrated (well who isn’t?) people who put on all those taboos for sex were pretty much right for all the wrong reasons. I can accept this, eventually, if they keep on thinking about it, they have a good chance to be right for all the right reasons. But, that’s another topic for a much bigger forum. Beware of those who would tell you that you can have all you want anytime you want, they mean you real harm. This caution pretty much sums of the sexual revolution.

    • January 19, 2011 12:18 pm

Thank you many muchos for writing what I’ve been thinking for decades now. For a long time I could not understand the ignorance of people who do not know that anything that is overdone, no matter what it is— love, money, sex, power, drugs—–anything taken to (well before) the point of excess is going to lose its attraction or result in a pleasureless addicti0n, having all the donwside along with none of the joy.

I now find myself in good company with your missive.

The shy flirtation of young woman’s or a girl’s quick smile holds more interest for me than the ubiquitous thrashing of the two genders in every movie, TV program, or book description which seems obligatory to make the NYX best seller list. The woman with the coquetry and slightly embarrassed attitude to disrobing is a magnet. Why? Because they are more rare than the dodo bird. Women today are more like men in every way and thus, a complete turn off to heterosensual men.

The how tos and advertisements of 60 yr olds having it off in the magazines are a complete turn off. It’s no mystery to me why we do not want to know about our parents and grandparents sexual lives.

Thanks once again for this, I wish it would go viral.

      • March 17, 2012 6:42 pm

kalki, that is absolutely melodramatic! You seem just fine disenfranchising human beings. Like a pimp would, you are deciding FOR everyone else and are not allowing people their right to their own life and process. There ARE consensual sex workers who actually LOVE their work. I am one of them!! Trust me, you cannot even begin to imagine what I do. Perhaps you will project onto me (or any other sex worker) all of the ‘dirty’ ideas that come to your mind when you read me stating I am a sex worker? All of YOUR imaginings have no basis in my reality (for example). Yet you will certainly project your construct AT me I am sure based on your comment. For you or anyone else to decide for others what they can and cannot do with their own being: spiritual/physical/mental you are being oppressive if not tyrannical. You are silencing MANY voices through that action. That’s obviously ok with you. Are you also one of those who thinks a woman’s vagina is connected to her soul therefore a prostitute has a dirty soul?? The words of Yashua come to mind…..that the first to enter the kingdom will be the WHORES and publicans.

  8. January 19, 2011 6:47 pm

Does great sex lead to love and/or love lead to great sex with pornographic tastes being the spice to flavour the meals and bring out the best in the ingredients? Sex and love are as different as chalk and cheese, but one hell of an explosive combination which has one coming back for ever more of the magical power with fabulous controls.

Oh and please be careful if you wish to comment on that, for anything you say will tell experts in both fields everything about you and more than than you would probably like them to know, unless also great active, practising fans of the heavenly art.

There are many opinions on pornography. Personally I think hard core porn has a genuineness about it, whereas much of the soft core and every day sexuality shown in the media is shameless titillation and suggestiveness in the despicable pursuit of ratings.

The FREELY AVAILABLE internet porn is always conducted by EXTREMELY attractive people, none of whom seem to have any concern whatsoever for their actions. Once a pretty young girl gets to the bumping, grinding, and groaning stage, they lose individual attractiveness, and just become an object. I often wonder what goes through the girls mind, knowing that their image will be available, long after the few hundred dollars earned has been spent.

Hollywood and the media have made fortunes from exploiting our weakness of lust. In the end, young girls have been using their bodied for their own gain long before the camera was invented. Sex is sex, and women have always managed to live with their experiences of it (on or off camera).

Porn allows the ugly, shy and old, indulge in something they can only dream about. I suspect the male’s (man’s) main problem with porn, is due to the “pedestal” we put women on, that women are happy to exploit. The story of George and the dragon (and the pretty young princess) is the battle between how we (men) see women and how we behave (Dragon = our own sex drive towards an “innocent” young girl)… So just get over it!

AC, if there was a genuine exploration of Erotica, by a fully involved set of actors, producers, director, spot boys, soundmen/women….you get th e”picture”, I suppose it would be genuine in my book. Nothing I’ve seen (and I’ve seen a lot over my years) matched that.
The disconnect you speak of is one of th every things I was getting at. In pornography, no one is really in it, not the performers (unless you count being high on a drug cocktail and then begin in it, well, in it, I don’t).
For all the wrong reasons, porn creates an aspirationalist society.
      Thanks for writing in.

Glossy dreams at $10 to $20 a copy (they always had the best printers except for National Geographic – hmmmm I see a connection). Now it is almost all free and the thrill is gone. As are most of the profits. Supply has met demand. I hate it when that happens. Bad for business.

Todays Pornography is a reflection of the callousness of modern Society. As we have grown from a more Spiritual Existence, to that of a Material Existence, so too, the expression of Pornography has evolved. It is a refleection of the ME generation. Perhaps, Pronography is the hard, bitter, exposure of the essence of the modern soul. No longer caring, empathic or giving, but stark, void and demanding. From the beauty to the brutality. Modern Banking, and its practice, is reflected in the Pornographic Art of the 21st. century. A World hell bent on the Worship of the Material and Conspicious Consumption. This shall pass, but the birth pains, to the next level will be almost too much to bear. If we fail, an Extinction Level Event is possible; but that shall give rise to something greater. If we pass, a new awakenig shall arise, a paradigm shift, and a new understanding. I fear the former, hope for the latter. For those of like minds, the time to prepare is now. All you can do is sit back and watch…. until The Moment Comes.

It is but from here to there, and there to here. Last night I debated with a former Girlfriend, the necessity of money. Oh, so sad. MONEY IS NECESSARY, LIFE IS BUSINESS! (Make me puke), then to this, your life of Business, I want NO PART…. How about an Era of Cooperation, Understanding, Conciliation…. Agree… it must be of like minded-individuals, instead of competition, cooperation, all willing to share the burden, all willing to take responsibility…. in essence isn’t that which GOVERNMENT is… Governance… RESPONSIBILITY… GEEZ… Therefore, if we all were responsible, no GOVERNMENT necessary…..YES! Cooperative actions (water, sewer, power) are a plus, but they must not be allowed to become EXPLOITIVE actions… can you understand the difference? Back to Pornography… Sexual interaction between cooperating adults, for a mutual benefit shared, is beautiful; modern pornography is $$$ based, exploits all involved and is destructive. The perfect analogy; it is evident for all to see…

Television used to be an event. I really looked forward to the Morecambe and Wise Christmas Special. There is too much supply now and I barely watch television. Bad air that I’d rather not breathe.
Pornography is the same. As a youth I used to thrill at finding a big bag of Fiesta/Razzle/Playboy magazines on a piece of council waste land. Those days have gone alas as everyone has broadband. Although I haven’t found a ‘bag’ for decades at least I’m getting out and some lovely fresh air too.

That was an excellent essay and well written. Thank you. Your words elicit strong feelings.

I would like to add another factor to the “problem”. I have been studying the subject of circumcision for more than a decade now and I think it is an important factor to consider.

I was circumcised – female, WASP as a little girl in Kansas. I have observed and studied my own mental, emotional and physical makeup and also that of my male counterparts. I have come to the conclusion that no matter which gender you belong to, losing body parts is detrimental to the physical comfort, sexual satisfaction, and bonding mechanisms that are natural to humans… and that as a result, the visual senses take up the slack.

This is not to justify porn, but to make a plea for everyone here to question the wisdom of cutting genitalia. As a recipient of the ‘wrong’ kind of attention, I am particularly put off by porn, as I find it violates my sense of human dignity. I am an artist, so I love the human form. It is beautiful, always, in all its variations. But there is something different about porn. It takes the humanity of its subjects away. It turns them into mere bodies without souls. It makes the most beautiful bodies ugly in that way.

In circumcision, humiliation, sex and pain meet. Circumcision literally causes a ‘calloused’ physical member, which loses tens of thousands of subtle nerve endings similar to the fingertips and lips – and responds thereafter only to pressure and friction. The senses then need extra stimulation – fast, hard movements, ‘visual stimuli’, sex toys, heroic measures, gymnastics in bed, oral sex… and, i suspect, homosexuality may be part of the ‘extra uumph’ that helps some get where they want to go… pretty much anything “forbidden”, as guilt compels repetition.

At any rate, please consider encouraging protecting children from knives. Genital cutting has far-reaching effects. Some traits people think of as “male” are not – they are the symptoms of unhealed trauma, and in this case, PTSD due to the trauma of circumcision.

Thank you for writing in with your deeply felt words Patricia.
Circumcision, male or female is a “wild” outlier. I have my own experience with it that I’ll share when appropriate.
      Much appreciated.
We need to ponder and pay attention, now more than ever, to the things we do, to our “Self”. It truly is the body sacred.

    ‘Pornography’ is a box …

It is not pornography so much as it is exploitation built on exploitation. The upper level exploitation that prevents and disfigures normal attachment and relationships, the upper level exploitation that causes our atomization, is our failed social alliance (government). It is the bought and paid for crooked government that allows for the repression and exploitation of us all — like that which allowed the FED to come into being, alcohol and tobacco to become the state drugs, etc. — that is the causative agent of sexual exploitation. Corruption of the societal alliance is the first level deviation from the ‘norm’. Repression of spirit twists the spirit. Repression of spirit is the upper level ‘disease’ that causes the resultant ‘disease’ of pornography and many other societal ‘diseases’.

But ‘pornography’ is not all ‘disease’ so much as it is people coping with the root cause, the out of balance power structure, and the resultant societal ‘norms’. Why get married and procreate when a crooked state shapes and forms your children more than you do and that same crooked state works to create divisiveness in your marital relationship with so much deceptive value shaping shit TV? And so people do the best that they can and turn to ‘pornography’ for a less costly replacement of the more fulfilling relationships that they have been denied by the state. And yes, it is getting more deviant as the social alliances are further corrupted each day. It is the now gross corruption of the social alliances and the resultant extreme repression of spirit that give cause to the feeling of being in the end times.

But the higher level causative agent is the gift of life itself. Its great joy comes with a heavy price. As organisms we must exploit and consume other organisms in order to survive. It IS a dog eat dog world. The great sadness here is that humans, as the dominant species on the planet, have the knowledge and the tools to easily get their sustenance from lower level organisms and at the same live a life of joy and happiness by fairly regulating human alliances simply by demanding more transparency in those social alliances and greater punishment for those who violate them. Yes, we need to imprison for life a number of sell out crooked politicians.

We are not “on a devolutionary spiral”. We are on an evolutionary path where the masses have been deceptively conned into defeatism by the few and made cowards and complicit in their own demise. Twenty thousand pharaohs and six billion slaves. Do the math, stop whining and take action!

Deception is the strongest political force on the planet.

      Thanks for the comment iontheball.
Nice line of thinking for explaining where we are today.
We differ on the evolution/devolution question though, since I see too few signs of evolution in our individual or collective fabric. To me, it all looks like it is unraveling.
Care to share what action you are taking? Individually or for the collective?

        Thanks anadianant.

I’m currently working on a couple of web sites to promote the info in my last two paragraphs of my comment above and my closing tag line.

I don’t see devolution so much as I see an orchestrated divisiveness on such a grand scale that we fail to see its the same old shit in a new, but gigantic, suit. We fail to see it because the suit is so large and so we become defeatist and believe that it is all unraveling — we see devolution. It is still the few controlling the many and they can easily be divested of that control when exposed. You are what you see and believe. Real change comes in the individual and the collective when he/she/they see the reality and believe in a more empowering reality for all.

Explaining and unraveling the aggregate generational corruption is a major goal. All flows from that, especially then making people realize their true human nature and that the best choice to overcome it is through cooperative alliances that celebrate the choice to live in harmony as opposed to living in conflict.

There is another factor that also affects the present global feelings of anxiety (the “devolution and unraveling” feeling) and that is the greatly accelerated speed of human evolution which has to do with the creation rate and ever increasing power of human externalizations (which are all deceptions and tools of dominance) and that we are morphing into — what I call the “Onotron”. To long to go into here but the gist of it is be careful what you externalize as it can and may be used against you.

Deception is the strongest political force on the planet.

wow…I think you folks are really over thinking this stuff. Of course if someone views porn non stop it can become a problem….but ANYTHING taken to a point of excess is going to become problematic.

To each their own…there no “right answer” for everyone…so give people some room…if my wife and I want to watch some porn(VERY attractive people having sex) once in awhile to spice things up whats the harm? Its consenting adults I`m speaking of…

It`s not like I`m going to try and track down the girl in the film, end my marriage and leave my family, job, friends and life. I guess you are saying you would in some way.

Intriguing to observe the level of emotions that graphic depictions of sex acts incites in the beleagured human mind. Much rhetoric in the way of reason here. I invite you to look deeper. Pornography is not a disease. The thought-form pornography is but a symptom of separation consciousness, one of very many manifesting luridly in this dying culture of ours.

Humanity has unquestionably lost its way. Lost it’s “mind.” It’s heart has been effectively disabled. It believes itself to be a body, and is living primarily through its senses, as a terminal comatose patient stays alive on a repsirator. The senses have been overwhelmed, over and de-sensitized, twisted, shattered by turns. It desperately ‘wants’ love, but in its seeming absence will accept in substitutionthe excitement of sexual stimulation, even as a starving man will consume a candy bar, on the way to dying. Does this call for moralizing, or compassion?

Remember please, that all students in attendance at University Gaia are at different levels of consciousness, and they need to learn their lessons their way, in their time. Not yours, at your pace. Endeavoring to impose one’s personal sense of indignation and hubris on others is also a symptom: that of a level of consciousness caught in the briars of judgement in the Valley of RIGHT & WRONG. I recommend the works of David Hawkins (The Eye of the I) to assist in elevating one’s perspective above the smoky haze of ego-mind, which can lead to acute opinionation. Which can itself be pretty addictive in its own right.

Investigate peace. Release your investment in saving humanity from its necessary lessons. There is a Higher Power overseeing this process, and it knows what it’s about.

Hmmmmm….. interesting tone and tenor here. Do you have a body of work or life-experience showing that you actually live the energy you are writing of?

Otherwise you need to provide something more than a book recommendation to make your point deeply here.

You sound like a thinking person, so please share more deeply. Pornography is a vile thing, especially in it’s current form. Are you denying that and saying it’s a necessary evil?

Perhaps you missed the thrust of the post in question?

Thanks for sharing. And I’ll keep doing what I do in terms of humanity saving lessons as I know best.

“The first two facts which a healthy boy or girl feels about sex are these: first that it is beautiful and then that it is dangerous”. G.K. Chesterton.

This more innocent time (~1900) held none of highly sensual materials & media that daily bid to saturate us today. Sex must have been quite the sacred diversion from the prosaic daily exposure to the real outdoors ante-HVAC. Back then young lovers rapt in the garden of eros could not have dreamt of sterilizing their lovemaking of any&all fertility. Living close to the earth, these people had a natural first hand knowledge of how babies were made- this is what creatures did when thet grew up. Begetting offspring was the great proof of one’s place in the order of things. These were singular consolations deep in a person’s being.

Today’s mechanochemical modes of contraception shear the marital embrace of all “danger”. Things are rendered down to more or less a “hooking-up”. A special thing between current friends that, on occasion (when enough orgasm criterias are met) scratches some deep itch like nothing else. It’s all about me baby. Sooner or later porn becomes the more efficient at achieving the criteria for sacred orgasm. As a f*ck buddy, it can’t be beat. the process is not unlike the way an affectionate pet often replaces the friends and fellows of the jaded and cynical soul isolating from the world..

Do we really think all this can transpire with colossal prevalence without consequences? To whatever degree God the creator is not mocked, I wil be not a prophet of doom but a journalist of doom.

    Pray. Mortify. Carity to others.

Pornography is basicly a distortion of sex as a beautiful experience. It is quite machine like in many ways and lessens the experience to a, large degree. Goes back to my thesis of the two powers we have from the get go. The power of life and the power of death. Pretty powerful and awesome stuff when you stop and consider the potential consequences. Which of course most never really do ! Sex is a VERY powerful drive in humans and porn is some form of morphed commercialistic after thought used to acquire money and power like so many other natural humanistic drives that have been perverted for money and control . Sex is beautiful, porn is a distortion and many times quite ugly.
