Toroidal Vortices and the magic of stillness…
Recently, I have felt a lot of inner (and therefore outer) commotion in my life. It’s been like I remember a storm in my Navy days, returning from Madras to Vishakapatnam, a bay of Bengal Storm, in a Russian Missile Cruiser meant to take 60 degree rolls (either side) and pitches so I could see the Bowside keel of the accompanying ships as they rose and then fell till their foc’stle was swamped under. Incredible stuff.
Really like that. A storm swept through my life. Event upon event.
I am a sitter till the universe signals it’s time to move. But here I felt, just like in that storm, pulled by forces greater than my power to with-stand. Notice withstand by the way. We think of it as being somehow in opposition. I withstood it.
Withstood? Stood with is somehow in opposition to?
How deep and wide is the gap in the semantics and origins of this language. Ironically, in this age of iron, the lingua franca of the world. It has not withstood the ravages of manipulation too well has it?
I want to withstand you.
I tell you, every dive into etymology leaves me feeling a little less mad and a little more awed.
see commotion for instance. The whole lead-up to this point was, no one like a commotion, yes?
I’m sure you are seeing it already.
commotion late 14c., from M.Fr. commocion “violent motion, agitation” (12c., Mod.Fr. commotion), from L. commotionem (nom. commotio) “violent motion, agitation,” noun of action from pp. stem of commovere “to move, disturb,” from com- “together,” or “thoroughly” (see com-) + movere “to move” (see move).
To move with is bad? What’s that commotion I hear?
We always hear a commotion.
Where does that take us? You see what I mean? This is a dangerous sword of a language that we know not what it sneaks when one of speaks. And yet here we are, trying to under-stand each other through this it’s medium-ship (see, not large or small, just medium-ship). 😉
It is good to know your tools and better to know your weapons intimately.
Is it any wonder half the world is Driven to Dis-traction. As simple as that. Like the smooth marble tiles below our feet, loss of traction…..
So, stillness. I was craving stillness. Found my center. And realized this, again I think, but perhaps more timely now and never shared.
In stillness, the inner tornado brings to us what is naturally called to us. It is the source of so called animal magnetism. Some animals (and humans) can mesmerize with their eyes using the force of the same inner vortex. Likewise with the voice.
All of our ex-pressions are driven by that inner vortex. It is the pattern created between that vortex’s outer, growth, masculine desire and the natural, maternal, limiting physical womb and the mother’s supporting musculo-skeletal structure that de-fines us. see that? We are de-fined when we take this gross body/shape.
It is that vortex that feeds breath. In and out. Our nasal passage is an intricate vortex generator.
So, in the so-called Sat-yug (the age of truth), perhaps everyone’s inner vortex was so powerful that everything they needed to complete their 4 stage cycle was im-pelled to them.
Now, at this fourth turning, our inner vortex’s are weak and so their vorticular ex-pressions are weak.
Now anyone teaching lung-pumping exercises is an insta-guru. So many people being lung-pumped astray.
Our inner vortex is at it’s weakest ebb. Nobody’s fault. It has been millenia in making.
That is the “spark” that is diminishing. Making us generally more coarse as creatures. Every successive generation.
In still-ness though…. Consciously breathing out to the bottom of the vortex, it’s source and then un-consciously breathing in through the natural vorticular construct of our nasal passage.
By breathing out that deeply, you nourish your whole body. Pran (commonly written and pronounced prana) flows opposite to the physical breath. A double toroidal pump.
In stillness and in breath (the paying of attention to it), you can wind up that inner vortex. By finding it’s core and holding it, it/you begin to find “form” again.
Now, if take my advice, let the following video load up fully, transfer to full screen mode, make sure you have a good set of speakers on, turn off the lights and lose yourself.
So you can find your “Self”
I loved it. Transcendental……
May peace….be upoooooooooon…..us all….
