4&20 Blackbirds Baked in a Pie….

June 2, 2012

For some time now, I’ve had an absolute fascination with Blackbirds. And with whistling, because it is a core sound, with breath.

Gurdjieff-ji, so much my teacher in absentia tried to direct me to crows, but it is always BlackBirds…insistent…

They have, in various ways, played a very interesting role in my life. Very special people and very spacial places.

Over time, I’ve tired to learn Black-Bird speak.

Today, I think I drove my teacher NUTS. πŸ™‚ We had a dialouge. And he/she was either very frustrated with me or really really happy….

Because I’ve never heard a breathless Blackbird… have you?

Priceless. You should’ve seen my dog.

I’ve always enjoyed ‘talking’ to owls.

As regards whistling, yup. Me too. Been teaching my 4 year old grandson how to. He’s just gotten the hang of it and it’s non-stop. I think it’s awesome, but don’t know if my daughter/son-in-law will ever forgive me. Next up is a drumming set. πŸ™‚

owls and Eagles are difficult. That Scree needs to come from the gut and hit the roof, at the same time trilling. I’ve tried, trust me I’ve tried.

I just started wondering what my neighbours much think of me. πŸ™‚

As for your grandson, may I suggest a single skin drum like a dumbek or a tiny djembe? Drum-Kits are very mechanical, unnatural sounding. All plastic skins and wire. If you start with one, two is easy. Or easier at any rate. And even banging them is music.

Hey! Well, y’know. It is something where all “aspects” had to be studied. Else, my knowledge would be SHallow for the SWallow! πŸ™‚
