Death by a Thousand Slogans…
Hope everyone is well.
Please note the excessive flooding starting to break out everywhere in the world. Make no mistake, Aqua, Aquarius is upon us. And it’s going to keep right on coming, more and more. Water water everywhere, in a Midas-ian deluge of excess.
UK Flooding via Here
Meanwhile, in the US:
For the US: via HERE
Floods of liquidity, fractally, metaphorically, everywhere. They say rising tides float all boats, but too much of a tide is no good too.
And where it is not flooding, it is parched, dry. The US has lost a huge portion of it’s mid-western Corn crop. Indian rain-fed crops are suffering as the monsoon delays. Every day is loss. Agriculture, even though seemingly bucolic and slow, is tied to the tides of time like everything else. Too little too late or to much too soon, either way, crops lost.
So food and water, both under massive attack.
Of course, this will be felt the most in cities. Cities, these over-built human hovels masquerading as “happening” locations are a fool’s paradise at best.
I’m leaving Bangalore, soon. I can see it getting crushed before my eyes, a city I have known well since 1972. Yup, I’m that old! 🙂
As always, the individual is usually just a victim of momentum. But the larger contract, the bustling metropolis… not good at all. Even living on the out-skirts as I do, water comes by tanker once a week, power cuts 2-3 hours a day. Traffic worse. And when the rains do come, the over-flowing sewer lines…. every year, same story, only slightly worse.
You know, boiling frogs and all. Such is how it is.
Also interesting that America is Parched and Burning and the UK is under severe flooding. It’s an important axis, with fire on one side and water on the other.
Think water and food and righting your own relationship with them.
As for the headliner here, this is what I wanted to share today.
Slogans and sloganeering in general cheapen our relationship with the language, with the theme the slogan is propounding as well as with our-selves.
Case in point for today.
The whole New Age movement has had one strong under-pinning slogan: As did the Faux feminism/masculinism that is running virulent through the world today.
Be All that you can be!
Everyone is trying to be all that they can be. All that we can be is told to us by Stars (movie/sports/literary etc.0, If I am this, so can you be this. Star that is.
In essence, Be all that you can be says to people, you too can be a star. Tomorrow. Next year. Work harder towards tomorrow.
Meanwhile, yesterday and today lies forgotten in a heap. Who cares. I’m not good enough right now, but tomorrow I can be a star.
I suggest a twist.
Be Who you Are!
If your current, present Is-ness is a mystery, what fruits will working on it bring? A compounded mystery at best, a mis-guided mistake at worst. Ne?
Absent present gnosis, any attempt to be tomorrow is based on an un-known footing.
Imagine trying to make a silk purse from a sow’s ear, hmmmm?
We first and foremost have to be who we are.
Being is Be-ing.
Awareness of our “self” in the Here and now.
Who am “I”. Which I is really me.
I, me, my Be-ing.
first B, then C, right? 😉
As in first Be, then See what/where the inner voice says, what the core feels…..
Be all that you ARE. First.
The rest happens in the flow.
If the boat we were sailing in kept trying to become an aircraft carrier, I think it would make for a poor boat, eh?
Be-ing is not however an in-animate state. It is actually super-animated and totally still.
I’m not there either, just to clarify. Tomorrow is a haunting siren-song of hoped for betterness in our general condition. Tomorrow is the tabula-rasa where all shall be full-filled.
Meanwhile, today slip-slides away.
Be. Who. You. Are!
On many other fronts, things are un-folding. More on that soon.
Take good care, hugs all around…
This, by the way, is who I was in 1997, software selling man, on Monterrey beach California…. 🙂 Thoroughly in the system, trying to be all that I could be.
My, how people change, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?
